Mae Pearl's existence was brought about in 2011 by two brothers from Cookeville, Tennessee. Russ Fowler hatched the plan after a trip to Dallas, and his brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Amy Fowler, helped to bring it to fruition.
As former builders, the Fowler brothers personally constructed the store's interior, including its tables, ceiling beams and backlit onyx serving area.
The Fowlers named the store after their mother, Mae, whose nickname used to be "Mae Pearl." She's a big fan, of course!
